EPA Has Issued Final Prohibition For Aldicarb

August 23, 2010, according to the news from NEWSINFERNO site ,U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPA has issued the final prohibition to aldicarb. EPA had an agreement with the aldicarb manufacturer Bayer CropScience that clean this toxic pesticides out of the market step by step.

Aldicarb is often used for cotton, peanuts, potatoes and other crops. The date of the first registration of it was 1970.

It is reported that aldicarb has also been found in grapefruit, oranges, orange juice, potatoes and frozen French fries. It has been banned from use in banana as it has a high potential risk to children.

According to the latest toxicity data submitted by ETA, aldicarb does not meet their strict safety standard for food and diet and it may have an unforecasted risk, especially to infant. Aldicarb residues in the body of baby maybe 800% higher than the healthy level concerned by EPA and the children in 1 to 5years old are 300% higher.

In order to ensure the safty supply of food, Bayer CropScience will weed out aldicarb, all of remaining should be stopped to use after August 2018.

Legislation Amendment Against Agrochemical Residual

The Argentina agriculture products safety & sanitation service bureau approve a plan to make new amendment about the agrochemicals residuals in force. The purpose of this amendment is to patch the omittance found in the previous edition of this legislation, ( Sagpya resolution No. 507 / 2008), moreover, new restricted condition concerning some kinds of forbidden agrochemicals and the limit of residual has  been passed in this amendment of legislation.

This legislation seemed as the sign in residuals affair, meanwhile accompanying the legislation, there is a list of max. Residual quantity enclosed for the agri-products and its by products. Experts said that might be the first step or emblem of Argentina government’s determination to run registration under grimmer legislation.

EPA Banned The Use of Aldicarb

According to the news from NEWSINFERNO net at 23th Aug 2010, EPA has already issued a ban to the use of aldicarb. At the same time, EPA has had an agreement with Bayer CropScience, the supplier of aldicarb, to get rid of the pesticide in the market before 2015 step by step.

Aldicarb, one kind of insecticides, usually be used on cotton, peanut and potato. It is also usually used by someone trainned or get the related license but the end user or household due to its high toxicity. The first register date of aldicarb was 1970.

Anyway, for the safety of food security, Bayer CropScience will clean aldicarb before 31th Dec 2014. All the aldicarb sold out will be allowed to use until Aug 2018.
